I've recently found ways to practice my Spanish and study chess without any additional time investment. I listen to Spanish lessons during my commute, and I occasionally play the very lively podcasts from SpanishPod.com in the background when I'm home.
Lately I've been watching chess endgame videos on my laptop while doing other tasks. For example, I set up my laptop in the kitchen while cooking or doing dishes, or in the living room while sorting laundry. I'd encourage those interested to check out the "Endgames" section linked at the top of this page. To me, free endgame videos are more efficient and economical than crusty old books. I will add to the above-linked sections as I find more material and figure out how to organize it. Free is always better, but I'll mention worthy commercial resources too.
